This vintage 7½-inch try square is a classic woodworking layout and marking tool, featuring a rosewood stock, brass wear strips and a blued steel blade. Try squares such as this were essential equipment in cabinetmaking, joinery and general woodworking, where accurate marking and checking of 90-degree angles was critical to quality workmanship.
The richly coloured rosewood stock is enhanced by traditional brass bindings and decorative brass pins, giving the square the appearance associated with quality nineteenth and early twentieth century woodworking tools.
