Scrub planes remain essential tools for quickly hogging off rough timber and flattening uneven boards. This traditional European unbranded horned scrub plane features a thick 1 3/4 inch iron marked with “1 3/4” and “45” stamps.
The ergonomic front horn handle offers a comfortable grip while pushing hard through heavy cuts.
Key Features:
1 3/4 Inch Curved Cutter: The iron carries a sharp cambered profile for taking thick, arched shavings off rough-sawn boards. However the mouth isn’t as open as we would expect for a heavy-duty scrub, therefore we presume it’s for more finessing of the dimensions of smaller boards.
Reinforced Sole: Includes a steel mouth plate screwed into the sole to prevent mouth wear during heavy roughing work.
Classic Horned Body: Solid hardwood stock with an integrated horn tote for maximum leverage and forward thrust.
Original Wooden Wedge: Matches the body mortise tightly to lock the blade securely in place.
Condition Note:
This tool shows honest age, patina, and shop wear. A previous owner stamped their name into the wooden body several times. The mouth repair has been nicely done. The timber remains solid with no cracks affecting function, making this a reliable user plane for stock preparation.
