Description
Stanley bedrock 602 Type 7 with original Sweetheart era blade. Plane is in great all-round original condition except a minor crack in the lower section of the knob (see pictures). Made in USA with 2 patent dates on the plane body. Sole is in awesome good condition with almost no pitting. Japanning is as close to pristine as you’ll find on an unboxed plane that’s 100 years old. Rear handle appears intact. The screw threads are in healthy condition. We’ve barely even cleaned this one. Stanley SW Made in USA blade which is a good length.
We believe this to be a Type 7 (1923-1926 ) as it has Stanley rather than Bedrock on the levercap, however the base, having two patent dates, puts this as a type 6/6a (1912-22). However, we have no reason to suspect that this isn’t a genuine and original Type 7 plane with all its original parts. Stanley had a habit of using up parts between types, so this would indicate this as being an early Type 7 from about 1923.
This Bedrock would be a great addition to any collection. Bedrocks are pretty rare, but in this size, type and condition it’s a serious collector’s item.
