This vintage 8-inch spirit level is a beautifully made traditional workshop and site tool, constructed from polished mahogany with brass top plates and a central spirit level vial. Marked “Warranted Correct”, it represents the type of quality pocket level that was once carried by joiners, cabinetmakers, builders and engineers for checking level surfaces during everyday work.
The level features a rich mahogany body, attractively finished brass plates and a recessed vial assembly protected within the body of the tool. Its compact size makes it a convenient addition to a tool chest while still being long enough to provide reliable levelling performance for many workshop applications.
Many British and American manufacturers produced levels bearing the phrase “Warranted Correct” during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The phrase was commonly used as a statement of quality rather than a maker’s mark, and as a result the manufacturer of this example cannot be definitively identified. The style, materials and construction are consistent with quality levels produced during the late Victorian and early twentieth-century period.
The deep colour of the mahogany, together with the brass fittings and traditional form, give this level considerable display appeal. At the same time, it remains a practical tool that would look equally at home in a working workshop or a collection of traditional woodworking tools.

Condition
Very good vintage condition overall. The level retains its original spirit vial, which remains functional, although the liquid exhibits slight clouding consistent with age. The mahogany body presents particularly well with a rich colour and finish, showing only a couple of small marks from careful use over the years. The brass fittings display an attractive aged patina and remain well preserved. Overall, this is a clean, honest and highly usable example that has survived in notably better condition than many comparable vintage levels.
