Description
This little Voskov is a one-off user modified plane to make it look like a copy of the Stanley No.1. From the Hamilton Collection, it may have even been modified by John Hamilton himself.
If you aren’t lucky enough to find a Stanley No.1 then this may be the best budget buy of the decade. These planes have surprisingly good reputations, but this one is extra special. The previous owner took real good care of it and replaced the average woodware and securing screws with some really pretty hardwood (possibly Brazilian Rosewood) and brass alternatives.
It’s the right size at just 6 inches long. The iron is 1/8″ narrower than the Lie Nielsen while the sole is about 3/16″ longer. It isn’t adjustable and doesn’t have a removable frog like the Lie Nielsen, but we think it’s actually prettier. Grab yourself a little cutie.
