This No.540 hand drill is being sold in parts due to some parts being broken or missing, ideal for restorers, machinists, and collectors seeking original components to complete or repair their own drills. The No.540 hand drill is one of the most complex and desirable Yankee hand drills ever made, and original parts are increasingly scarce.  The chuck kept sticking and both bevelled drive wheels have missing teeth.  Otherwise, it is all in excellent condition.   Parts taken from the drill featured in the photographs.

Drive Shaft and Chuck

Original splined drive shaft and chuck assembly from Yankee No.540 hand drill.  All in great condition except general wear and tear evident on chuck a surface that the grub screw bites down on. Includes bearings and casings, chuck jaws and spring.  It’s everything that’s released when you undo the grub screw on the main frame.   Note that this is the chuck that keeps sticking (although it seems to be moving freely now it’s not in the drill frame.
