Description
Although this hatchet axe is only marked No.2 and Made in England, we believe we have identified the maker. It looks remarkably like an early Brades No.2, but we can’t absolutely confirm this.
The axe has a rather beautiful user-made handle which has been attached with a terrible kind of butchery involving multiple nails and screws. That said, it is secure. The wood may be ash or hickory.
Our preference would be to remove the metalwork, save the handle and secure it properly with a nice wedge. However, we’ve left that for the new owner to decide. Nice little project which could result in a beautiful hatchet.
