Description
Brass planes are pretty uncommon in Australia, chariot planes are even rarer. This is such a pretty little plane overstuffed with polished dark hardwood – possibly ebony. Reminiscent of the Norris No. 30. If it had been a Norris, it would have been valued at around 10 times this price or more.
It’s a heavy plane at over 800g.
The throat is a little wider than we would like to see. It’s a low angle plane with the bedding angle at under 18 degrees.
Iron is 1 5/8″ wide, gently tapered and around 1/8″ thick at the sharp end. The iron is unnamed, but it’s still a heavy weight beauty and should sharpen up nicely.
Looks great but could make a fine user too.
