J Rabone and Sons 1206 rope gauge. Made in England. This little rope gauge is a bit special and has a unique Australian history. It has had its brass head stamped/engraved both sides with James Miller & Co, Melbourne, a prominent company known for its rope works and later, production of linen thread. The Company, established in 1862 also has significant historical ties with Brunswick and Warragul, Victoria. One side of this little beauty displays the James Miller Anchor logo. Not sure if the branding is advertising or to display ownership, but it’s very nicely done and a very rare find, particularly in this condition.
