Description
Well set-up Mathieson 22″ beech jointer with Ward and Payne 2 1/2″ parallel iron with cap-iron. Solid handle. Sole has been gently hand-jointed to take out a couple of low spots (which can still be seen by the darker colouring on the sole). We’ve tried to drop the rest of the plane to the level of the wear spots hence why they are still dark. Wedge fits snuggly and holds the iron tight. Great vintage user. Don’t be taken in by the big brand hype. If you know how to set one of these tools up, sharpen and adjust the iron then they can be just as effective. The steel of these blades is awesome, but I wouldn’t expect the steel to stay as sharp for as long as the best modern tools.
This plane has been tweaked until perfectly set up. If you want to know how perfect watch the very imperfect video of one-handed use here: https://youtu.be/o6i1YwngZaM
