Description
Rare Sharmanco block plane. Made in Australia. Iron is unmarked but appears original. We suspect the levercap retaining screw is not original as it doesn’t fit through the levercap, but it’s close and as it’s knurled it could easily be modified to be a perfect fit. Body probably repainted and knob nicely finished by previous owner.
The unique iron adjustment provides lateral adjustment via a swivel as well as depth adjustment via a traditional adjusting wheel. Likewise, the quick cap release lever is a feature of early American planes. 210mm long, 55mm wide with a 44mm cutter.
Much bigger than a traditional block plane at 21cm long with a 4.4cm width iron.
