We’ve sold these Stanley 78 fillister planes for years, but never a boxed USA Sweeheart era plane. Nice example of a Stanley 78 with one patent date and all the accessories. Because of the one patent date and SW blade we estimate this plane is dated 1925-1930. The only things we can find wrong with it is the box condition (which is tatty, but so would you be if you were about 100 years old) and the nicker which has one of the three spurs broken. Otherwise, the plane is in excellent condition.
We haven’t sharpened the blade, but it looks straight and reasonably sharp. Great collector plane or high-quality user.
