Description
This caulking iron is marked T Aitken, Sydney. I don’t know if the name refers to a company or a person. The edge is just short of 2 1/2″ wide and the iron appears to have been hand forged. Relatively light for a caulking iron at 200g. There is some mushrooming of the head and some score marks on the handle which look like owners’ identification marks. Unknown age, but obviously used in NSW boat building.
