If you don’t want to spring for a new plane or a Stanley then this Whitmore No.5 is a great option. Made in England in the 60s and 70s. Someone has gone to the trouble of repainting it (Hammerite finish) and we sharpened it and checked that it’ll take a nice shaving. It’s a little rougher around the edges than a Stanley, but still very serviceable. Can’t guarantee that our sharpening will meet your standards, but we just wanted to make sure the tool would operate properly. Bench ready, so buy it and put it to work.
This is the size bench plane most woodworkers would choose if they could only have one bench plane.
