Description
Early Disston 68 Gents or Dovetail Saw with 8″ plate. The original etch is still visible on this lovely little saw (but hard to photograph). The saw comes with a brass-plated steel back and small patches of the brass have worn away providing some evidence of this. The plate originally extended 1 1/2″ below the back and this example shows that there has been next to no plate wear still having that full 1 1/2″ plate depth. The handle could probably be cleaned up some, but we haven’t touched it. The back and the plate are both straight. The saw is sharp and bench ready. This saw is for the discerning user or a sought-after collector’s item.
