Description

We are not sure whether PENN is short for Pennsylvania Saw Company, but this split nut steel backed tenon saw is a fine period saw. Completely unrestored it has a few issues (a couple of missing teeth, some cracking of the handle and a small and shallow ding in the middle of the plate). Someone has hacked at the split nuts a bit in what looks like a failed attempt to remove them. That said, the saw back is straight and the plate has only a minor curve in it towards the front edge. The handle is really pretty and solid on the plate. The missing teeth can be relatively easily reinstated as the tooth size is so fine (~12 tpi rip tooth). Plate length is approximately 14 inches. Restored, this would be a fine and solid saw.

If we don’t sell it, we might restore it ourselves but expect the restored price to be at least 3 times this price. If we uncover a plate etch we may be able to ask for more.
