Description
Stanley Bailey No.5 plane made in England. Stanley blade made in Australia. All there and in good original condition. No breaks or obvious repairs to handles. We haven’t really cleaned this one and the iron which has plenty of life left in it, is already sharp. The iron appears to have been nicely hollow ground on a power grinder. The iron’s edge is in fine condition and ideally would just be honed to perfection. The woodware has been stripped by the previous owner and an oil finish applied. Many prefer the natural wood look and feel. The sole has been nicely painted in a matt black. The tip of the handle has been nicely and smoothly repaired. There is a hang-hole in the heel of this plane – unfortunately it doesn’t look very central.
Solid user plane which is bench ready, but would benefit from honing. This is the size bench plane most woodworkers would choose if they could only have one bench plane.
