Description
Stanley bedrock 604C with original Stanley New Britain and Level (V-type trade mark) iron. As this has the Stanley Bedrock lever cap (from the Type 5s), we believe this to be an early Type 6 (1912-1921). Iron is good length 7 1/8″ or 181mm. They were only 7.5″ new so it’s seen just 3/8″ of wear. The iron has a couple of small chips out of one corner and you will lose a little less than a millimetre of iron length if you chose to grind them out. Made in USA. Has 2 patent dates on the plane body. Plane is in good all-round original condition. Corrugated sole is in great condition also with almost no pitting. Japanning is in poor condition – guessing less than 30% present. The screw threads are in healthy condition and all move freely. We’ve barely even cleaned this one.
No damage, defects or signs of repair could be identified apart from what is detailed in the description and Condition description.
This Bedrock would be a great user for the discerning woodworker, the corrugated sole makes it a little harder to find, so it might be collectable.
