Huge Ward & Payne 1 1/2″ (37mm) framing chisel.
This chisel is very similar to the one we have just published here (https://oldtoolshop.com.au/product/1-1-2-inch-ward-framing-chisel/), but unfortunately not in anywhere as nice condition. It’s the same chisel with more wear, a replacement handle and ferrules. The other example is a collector’s version, where as this is strictly a user example. Still an awesome chisel difficult to find and with a replacement or fixed up handle could be a fine user. At 14 1/2″ long. Many of the Ward chisels are a bit heavy duty, a bit ‘agricultural’. Not this one. This is a fine craftsman’s chisel whose steel gleams and tapers to a fine 3/16″.

We haven’t touched then edge, but it appears to have been hand-sharpened and is sharp. It won’t take much to make this a fine bench ready chisel.
Chisel weighs in at around 400g. Great user.
